If you are talking about from within Internet Explorer, go to the "tools" menu, then click on "internet options", then click on the "advanced" tab, then click on "reset".
There is also a specific checkbox in "internet options" on the "content" tab. You'll see an "auto complete" section here - click on "settings" you'll see the option for save password.

You may want to rethink this for security purposes. I used to let them save my password, but to save the few seconds it takes to retype it isn't worth having it saved on my hard drive; but, if you insist:
cl Tools
cl Internet Options
cl Content
cl Autocomplete for usernames & passwords on forms
I cleared all the boxes, passwords and forms on my PC, but that's just me afraid of hackers.

It's your browser that's asking it, not windows.
