Hi, I just started using Mozilla Firefox, and my Internet Explorer stopped working. I've gone into Windows Firewall and allowed the following servers already:FTP, HTTP, and HTTPS.
I recently opened some ports, those of which I have forgotten, that didn't work so I deleted them. Also I have McAfee - Personal Firewall Plus (2006) running on my computer, and I don't know what ports to open to allow my Internet Explorer to work. I'm asking this because I have recently downloaded some programs that access the internet through IE and they won't work. Thanks. ^-^

Did you start using Firefox because IE stopped working, or you were using FF and then IE stopped working.

If the latter, then uninstall FF and check to see if IE will work again.

Otherwise, check the settings for IE (Tools>Internet Options) to see that there's nothing blocking it.

Check your Advanced settings in your Firewall (both windows and McAfee) to make sure it's not blocking IE. Make sure it's not just blocking the ports that IE may use etc, but that the actual application itself is not blocked.

If you meant that IE stopped working in terms that it won't load ... then there may be a problem with the actual application itself. You may need to reinstall the it or get updates for it etc.

If you don't have the latest IE, download it to see if it makes a difference.

Cheers.

*updated*

try uninstalling FF, and then see if it makes a difference to IE.

With as many IE7 device faults as i've got heard approximately, quite frankly IE6 is a greater sturdy browser. :-P yet, dropping the editorializing and attending on your query ... in case you uninstall IE7 (administration Panel - upload/do away with classes), your pc will roll itself back to IE6. And sure, you will nevertheless have the potential to get on line. yet another hazard is to acquire the maximum up-to-date unfastened version of Firefox. yet simply by fact evidently like IE7 has tousled your connection, you are able to desire to get that fixed first. nevertheless yet another hazard: do a device fix to a factor till now you downloaded the maximum up-to-date around of updates. that could desire to get IE7 working lower back. Then, whilst homestead windows as quickly as lower back provide you with the updates, use the custom mode and decline the replace for IE7. wish that facilitates. solid success!
