Internet Explorer incomplete download ?

Every so often when I download a big file using IE (6 or 7), it goes for a long time and downloads a portion of the file then says the download is completed, but its not. Say the file is 500MB, it'll only download like 350MB then kinda just give up and say its completed (how much it actual download various). My internet connection is slow at times but it seems kinda dumb to not return any error and just lie about finishing the download. I use Firefox for almost everything except for a couple of sites which I have to use IE for (and no download manager supported either). Does anyone have any solution to this? Thanks!

Read this http://www.fourmilab.ch/documents/corrupted_downloads/

I recommend you to switch to Opera, it has the ability to mask as IE for those problem sites and a far better download manager.

IE6 and IE7 have issues with downloading large files, usually because a partial or corrupt download is left over in the Temporary Internet Files cache.

To resolve this issue(permanently resolution if you do it regularly) make sure to clear your Temporary Internet Files either through Internet Options (Tools, Internet Options in IE) or using "Disk Cleanup" from the "Accessories, System Tools" start menu folders.

Another solution is to use a download manager like Fresh Download. They offer a "free" program, but require an email address to send you an activation key.

I wouldn't use your main email address to activate the product though, because their revenue is ad-based. So if you don't already have one, get a free email address somewhere and use it to register the product.

http://www.freshdevices.com/files/freshdow.exe.

This fairly decent(for a free program) is compatible with all mainstream browsers.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.pcboostcleaner.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

try installing IE8 maybe it fixes this problem. And i advice you to use a dowload manager like Download Accelerator Plus it downloads the files without any errors and supports resuming the downloads later if you want! Goodluck:)
