Why is my own Photobucket account returning a 403 Forbidden error?

Question

I've been logged in there for months with nary a problem and hundreds of images uploaded. Friends on various forums are not having issues, but my linked-images are x'ed out. I have not exceeded my bandwidth, and have tried emailing the PB development team, but no response yet.

Anyone know what could be going on?

I've been experiencing identical problems, with the 403 Forbidden error and all my pictures in my forum signature as 'user posted image'. It has been extremely stressful for me as i have a very special banner (In terms of sentimental value, and because of PM compliments regarding it i have received) only hosted on Photobucket. Anyway it's good to here they are fixing the problem, but why is it only certain accounts? I know plenty of members without this error.

a 403 error is a HTTP status code that tells you the area you are trying to access is restricted for some reason. It could be because the area you are trying to access is password protected and you don't have a valid password, or that the file permissions for that area were messed up somehow (but the server IS up, not what the previous commenter said). As this is a problem with the server, there really isn't anything you can do besides contact the person in charge of the website.

I noticed that others are having problems with their photobucket. However, not all my friends are. I wondered if mine was possibly copyright infringement, it won't let me into anything. It is a 403 forbidden message that I am getting. I see that you folks are having the same problem today, but I wonder if they are just cleaning house and kicking us out, although that would mean they would have to kick off everyone, it has totally messed up my MySpace profile as well as all of my blogs. I have written the help desk at photobucket to see if I have done anything wrong, and if I can't just get my personal pictures off of the site. I just wrote and haven't heard back. Is everyone sure that they haven't gotten rid of us?

Yes I have the same problem, I had an auction going off in EBAY this morning, so I lost heaps on that and now the other one I had to cancel. This means that I had to cancel this auction too. Losing money. Have a pro account and still getting this same message. Yep "you wouldn't want to hear my sarcasm" Still haven't heard from PB yet.

It has been 12 hours so far and no resolution.

same message and the photos say we are working to restore photos. Yes weren't we the lucky ones I hope they restore for you before your photo judging.

Wow, thats real good to hear that we're not the only ones having problems. I sure was going to be real p'd off cause all our photos are hosted on photobucket for our website and myspace and other websites. Feels good to know its just photobucket!!!

I'm getting the same response. Makes me feel good to know that my account and album isn't deleted. I run my father business images for his website and my MySpace images from there and if thats gone so are all of the images for his website and my profile. So I'm glad its not a big issue! Thanks for the help. It should be back in a few hours. Check back tonight.

OH THANK GOD! I just got home from work and had some messages from people whom I had linked to images saying that they were gone. Hopefully they come back! I have a whole forum with missing banners right now :P

What freaks me out is that images usually load during maintenance. Dearly hoping that all is not lost.

The site is down. 403 is a common error when sites are experiencing trouble or are down; wait it out and it should return within a few hours.

this situation had me pretty stressed.

i had to completly load a bunch of files to a seperate server for a mass emailer

Nah, just had to add my five cents worth... am just so glad, it isn't only my account. I was already worried. Actually I have two accounts, a private one, and one for a huge website... we have almost all our pictures stored there.. it seems, I should be glad, that only my private account is missing... let's hope they'll solve that all soon.
