In the tcp/ip properties of the adapter that you want as primary, change the metric from automatic to 1. That will then be the primary, and all traffic (not just IE) will flow through that interface first. If you want to go to a more granular level by adapter, set static routes on each. I am not aware of any way to bind IE to an adapter.

The only way to have 2 connections and have them act independently is to have 2 LAN adapters. Then in the TCP/IP properties the one which is higher on the list is the preferred connection. The only reason to even DO this in the first place is to bridge between two networks and if you are NOT acting as a bridge, then you actually impair your connectability because the connections will work at odds with each other. Why NOT ask why you have 2 connections? That is information garmane to the situation. It used to be you could double your throughput with use of 2 telephone lines with modems connected to the same ISP. However, with ethernet, that DOES NOT APPLY since all packets go through the same pair of wires! The only reason why the 2 modems worked as it did was because there were to completely separate paths acting in parallel with separate hard wires carrying the packets. In theory, you could double a DSL connection throughput if you had two DSL lines hard wired into your house, 2 DSL appliances and then multiplex the TCP/IP stack just like used to be done with 2 modems on 2 separate standard dialup phone lines. This will NOT work with a cable modem because you are back to a single pair of wires carrying all of the data as you are with simple ethernet.
