You will of course have to delete the history, clean the cookies, and go into the Internet settings and change content allowed, and cookies allowed. Restricting certain site feature is also good to use. Look into purchasing a content protection for your computer. Content protect is a good one, as you can set up accounts for different members of the family and allow viewing for their age level. http://www.filterguide.com/contentprotect.htm you can find info on different programs available at that site.

One of these problems is that alot of kids have computers in their bedrooms so you don't find out until it's to late that they are on sites/chat rooms that they shouldn't be. If that is your case, start by putting the computer in your common room, like a living room. That way when they are online you are in plain site of what they are looking at. Another thing is that a friend of mine was able to put restrictions and time limits on her pc so that the kids could only do so much and then be booted off. I'm not sure how she did that though. Above all, just have open communication and explain why you think that this is not okay and how you could end up hurt by predators if you are not careful. Good luck with this and God Bless.

The best solution for this is using a firewall and configure it to restrict acces to porn sites. If it doesn't have this option then edit in the restricted sites list the web-page adresses that you want to block.

I would advise you against doing this, because your right you could get into trouble despite your good intentions. They're people out there whose job it is to do what you are suggesting. They are professional computer surfers for the paedophiles they want to catch. And you taking this on your shoulders could be interpreted differently and you would live to regret ever getting involved. Surfers are asked to report any child pornography sites they come across, but that's not your job to do so. Its best to stay clear, and let others do this. You haven't the experience or the clearance for this. givemestrength

Time to download Ad-aware personal: http://lavasoft.com

and

Windows Defender: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=435bfce7-da2b-4a6a-afa4-f7f14e605a0d&DisplayLang=en

If you have an anti-virus program run it. If you do not you need to get a free one. Goto google and search for free anti-virus programs. If you have Internet Explorer, click on Tools --> Internet Options --> General.

You need to delete your cookies, temporary internet files (click the offline content) and your history.

Now goto Control Panel --> Add/Remove programs and remove any obvious porn program. http://ccleaner.com/ download that program and run it at a few times in the issue mode.

Now, get yourself some parental control software. Or goto Tools --> Internet Options --> Cotent Advisor and enable the thing and set it according to what you want him/her to see.

A little firewall program such as Zone Alarm would work well too: http://zonelabs.com/

Start a new user account. That will let you pick which sites the user can use. The directions are pretty clear how to set parental controls. Let your child pick his/her name and create an account. To do this, go to internet options, create new account. Good luck.

First thing you need to do is to go into the internet options and clear the history out and then you should install some parental controls on your system so that you do not have to worry about any more.

There are settings in windows to filter sites. Go to Tools, Internet Options, Content and enable content adviser.

if you have one shared computer you can alter the hosts file, adding an entry for each of the "nasty" web sites. for example, if you don't want your kid visiting "www.bozo.com" add the following line:

bozo.com 127.0.0.1

this tells the computer that the IP address of bozo.com is YOUR computer, so any attempts to connect to it will fail (since your computer isn't a web server presumably).

get net nanny and spywear and antivirus and bug cleaners. there are many out there that work very good.

And stand over there sholder and watch each and every move the kid makes so you can be a beter parent and control there entire life.

There is plenty of useful software you can get at like Best Buy. I would start however by talking with you kid about what he/she is doing first.

Sit them down and talk to them about morality and the ins and outs of pornography. My mum did that and I can't look at the stuff now without feeling queesy.

Don't let your kid use the computer.
