My roommate doesnt leave the house. He goes to class, but besides that he just sits at home and messes around online. He is slowing the internet down to a crawl because hes watching youtube, playing games and god knows what else. I own the router, which is a linksys and have all the admin rights. Is there a way to limit his internet usage so everyone else can use the net at a faster speed?

in the event that they're linked on on your router there's no longer something you're able to do till you have a router that helps those constructive components, on account which you prefer to characteristic some form of site visitors shaping or 'clear out' between their traces and the router. the element you need to understand is that if your router can no longer shrink their bandwidth on the 2d, you in basic terms have 2 recommendations: a million) Getting a utility to do the bandwidth shrink (calls on your laptop to be the router): in case you have 2 ethernet enjoying cards on your pc, you additionally could make your pc a router by applying turning on ICS (cyber web Connection Sharing), then you definately will ought to connect your roommates to a change, and the turn on your loose (the 2d) ethernet card. Then use any community restricting utility which includes netlimiter to chop back the bandwidth. you will get an previous laptop and setup linux on it (as linux are much less costly, and an extremely good gadget), verify it have 2 ethernet interfaces and set it as a site visitors shaper / router. that is going to require some stronger understanding nevertheless. OR 2) Get a router that help bandwidth restricting.
