Can you set default web browser per internet link?

Heres my situation:

I am supporting some users who prefer to use Firefox as there default web browser for everything. One of the website's that they use is ONLY compatible with internet explorer.

Most of the websites the users use have shortcuts to on there desktop to that site, so when they click the shortcut Firefox is loaded by default.

Is there a way to make IE load as the default browser for just one shortcut, and still have the rest use Firefox?

Thanks in advance!

It would not be easy to set one shortcut using Internet Explorer (IE) only, while the rest using firefox. However, what you can do is using the "send to" option. In your "document and settings"(for win xp & 2000 only), look for your user account. You should be able to find a folder called "SendTo", provided that you unhide any folders or files in there since SendTo is a system file folder.

Create or copy IE shortcut in the folder. When you right-click the shortcut on the desktop, scroll to "send to", and click on the IE shortcut. You will have IE opening the address, or you can drag the link shortcut on top of the IE shortcut if you have IE shortcut on the desktop itself already.

Edit: Airdog was right. I forgot you could do it that way. Essentially, create an IE shortcup on the desktop. After it's done, right-click it to properties under shorcut tab, type in the site address after the Target text string, click ok and you've got what you wanted. :-o

You don't have any control on what browser the "user" uses, it's best to create websites that are compatible with all browsers

//I may have misunderstood your question, what you may be able to do is use the firefox add on http://ieview.mozdev.org/ and add that site to the list, there's also the add on http://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/1419 that will allow ie to open within a tab on firefox

The shortcut is on there desktop? (just an icon?)

There is a way to set the link up to call Internet Explorer with the address as part of the short cut, then it just goes straight to that page. its something like this....iexplorer http://www.google.com

I just don't know if you need the full path to iexplorer.exe or what.
