My PC can't connect to the internet and when I try it says Resolving Proxy! HELP!?

Okay so about a week ago I tried to install a pirated version of Sims 3 on my computer. I downloaded it but that in said that I needed somethig to open it with so I installed this program called Open Freely that said it could open any game (I know it was a stupid idea.) But whatever that is not the point. The point is that the next day I realized that the program didn't look to safe so I uninstalled it. When I was done I tried to go on the internet and the page wouldn't load and when it was trying to load in the bottom left corner it said, " Resolving Proxy ". I am using Google Chrome by the way but Internet Explorer doesn't work either. So yeah... Ever since than I haven't been able to use the internet, BUT ONLY ON MY PC?! I am posting this from my iPod now because the Wi-Fi still works I just can't connect to the internet on the PC (Windows 7) even though in the task bar it says I am connected to the internet and we phoned Rogers and they said we were connected! Please help! 10 points to. Est answer.

Do a System Restore. Go to the Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore.



Then select a date BEFORE your internet stopped working. Press next and follow the rest of the instructions. You may need to restart at some point.

As you know, it was probably a virus. Have you got an AntiVirus software? If so, run a scan and it might be able to sort it out. If not, and your short of cash, download a program called AVG, which is a free anti virus software.



You can also do a system restore (google it). Basically what that does it set your computer 'back in time' to a date you choose. Which should get rid of the virus.
