outlook express and windows mail?

My dad recently got a new laptop. On his old desktop he had windows xp and outlook express. On his new laptop he has vista and windows mail.

Is there a way to take all the information out of outlook express on the old computer and put it into windows mail on the new one? I dont want to re enter all the individual information from all his other accounts such as hotmail and cogeco etc etc, I want to know if there is a way to access the whole collection of information that he has in outlook express.

You can export the address books from Outlook Express and probably import them into Windows Mail. And you can find the store folders that are what is in the inbox and any saved folders. I don't know if you can import the inbox files into Windows Mail though. I have never tried it. Why not Use Outlook Express on the Vista Computer?

You could use the Windows Easy Transfer on the Vista machine to do this. Run it first on the laptop and make a client disk to run on the old machine. It can collect all his documents and settings email etc and transfer over wired network, USB memory stick (if it's big enough) and external hard drive

on windows xp, do a backup of outlook express. open outlook express, file> import and export> export to a file> next> personal folder file (.pst)> (select) personal folder (and check) include subfolders> next> locate where to save



transfer this file and import in the new pc.



i think you can just import the files, contacts, but not the email accounts and settings, for that i think you need to use file settings and transfer app of windows.
