Are the projects listed in Guru.com and getafreelancer.com genuine and do we really get the payment for that?

Question

I am looking for a freelancing job in webdesigning, software development and also for data entry projects, Have been researching for so many days to find the genuine job where I can make really some extra earnings, but I guess most of the websites listed in the internet are either scams or fraud and ask money to start up with.
I have come across guru.com and getafreelancer.com websites which have the projects listed in them in various technologies. I am confused whether we really get any of the projects to work with and by chance even though we work for them and make it a successful will we be recieving the payment for the work done.

If anyone of you people is working on the same please let me know
