It means that Microsoft has new ways to infiltrate your system. They're all free. Download everything but Genuine Advantage. It will cause you problems.

It's all free and all good. Programs (of which the Windows operating system is one) are ALWAYS being changed to fix bugs or provide new features. In the old, old days, there was no Internet at all so you had to get a new disc with the program or "patch" and install it yourself. When the Internet became popular at first you could download these fixes/enhancements from that but you had to KNOW that there WAS a patch.
Then somebody wisely came up with: "well we know most computers have the Internet now, so why don't we keep a watch on the user's software and download changes FOR THEM"?

Basically Microsoft has to release patches for it's products, Windows/Office once a week. And Windows Update (something that's turned on automatically in Windows XP) regularly checks the site to see if there are patches available for these products installed on your computer.
When it finds patches it would notify you with a balloon on your taskbar indicating that there are updates to download, go through the process and update your computer, because that's the only way you can make sure you're safe from any security breaches.
Yes, they are free, and you will not have to pay for them ever in your life.

Microsoft releases security patches and updates that are operating system specific. In other words, if you are using Windows XP, then you should know that there are updates available which are free for download. If you are unsure of which ones you need, don't worry - just click on the following and the MS site will scan your computer and recommend which ones you need: Within Internet Explorer, click on: TOOLS>WINDOWS UPDATE - you'll be taken right where you need to go.

It means it has new updates for certain programs. You can click on the bubble. It will let you know if you have to pay for it. Most of them are garbage. You might want to research them before you download it cause it could be a virus. I know if it is Windows Update you can do it.

Depends what the new updates are...you need to read where they are coming from..sometimes there are printer software updates, etc
I get some from Microsoft, patches for example, that is a frequent occurance with Microsoft, so Yes i go ahead and download the updates..
Yes, downloading updates is free.

If you have a valid copy of Windows the downloads are just patches and updates to that program. It will also download a program that checks the validity of your Windows OS - so if you have a dodgy copy I recommend you disable auto-updates on your machine. If your copy is kosher then download the updates with out any fear, they are free.

it means you have new updates to download and install that's all there free so don't worry. It's free, Your computer updates itself every now and again, you just let it update, if it says press her to update, then do that, really it's up to you if you wan to update it, I only do it sometimes. There is nothing to worry about and you won't have to pay anything later.
2007-04-25 17:40:46 UTC
They are free and you will not have to pay for them in the future they are just programs to update your computer to advance it.
2007-04-25 17:39:54 UTC
Windows Updates are free. There are suggested ones and optional ones for drivers and such. You can set it onto automatic updates if you aren't an advanced user. Then Windows will download updates (mostly IE and Explorer security updates) by itself.

most updates are free . you should look to see what the updates are for or who there from like are they windows updates or your virus program sending updates .
updates are just slight changes in a program like the antivirus ones they find some new virus someone made and then they find the fix and send you the updates

It means that there are new updates that are available to download to computer. Matter of fact, in short, that message is telling you that there is or are new downloadables availablee and it is time to update most of the software on your computer so your computer could actually run better and so the software could work better for you in the future.

That's likely Windows built-in Automatic Updates feature. (Though other software may have similar things.) For Windows itself those updates don't cost anything. They're mostly security fixes. Other things that may have automatic updates (free and otherwise) may include Java, Quicktime, and other stuff like anti-virus programs.

Updates are free. Whenever it says it has new updates click on it and follow what it says. Updates help your computer run better as well as protect it.

They're free. It means that one or more of your programs has an update. It's a good thing. You're not gonna get a virus or anything. Just let it do it's thing, and your computer will thank you for it :-)

They will always be free. You need to read what the updates are for. are they for windows? for a program you have on your pc? is it a spam popup? if it is a program you recognize, i would download it. if it is for windows i would definitely download it. updates are improvements on programs that have been written and are on your pc. most program writers continually improve their products to help them from being taken over by hackers or to make them work with other programs that come out.

that would depend to the application or program that you have installed.
for instance, a tax software program or maybe Adobe, that application would ask you to download the updates.
updates are needed to fix a bug, or to upgrade the program.
updates for most of the application are for free.
but go ahead contact the tech support team of that application and inquire what updates you need to install or download.

If it is truly windows updates then they are necessary to keep your OS working securley and properly. You will only get these if your computer is set to automatic updates. Go to microsoft.com to review your settings. If it is not set up for automatic updates you might be getting hacked...Someone trying to get you to download you probably don't want. Leave i alone unless you trust the source.

They are free, and usually are a Microsoft update or an anti-virus update.
2007-04-25 17:39:13 UTC
Are they Windows Updates? Yes, they are free. Be sure your copy of Windows is legitimate before you download them however.

You dont have to pay for it. A newer version of a program you're using has become available. You should download it if its a trusted program.

if it's update for your windows, they're usually free. meaning that if it pops up when you turn on your comp. if you don't have to put in credit card number, which it shouldn't ask you, then it usually free. windows do that to make sure that you have the 'up-to-date' software and crap on your comp
