Google Chrome is a fast and lightweight browser

Firefox is awesome but from what you're saying your comp is quite possibly infected by some malware or virus (a lot of crash and being slow)

I really recommend you to get an up to date anti-virus(windows security essentials, Avast, AVG are free option, you can download them from here : http://www.filehippo.com)

and have your pc checked.then you can try any browser between Firefox, Chrome, Opera

Hi There, If you want to keep using Firefox: 1. Uninstall using add/remove programs 2. Reboot your computer (clears out the registry settings and unwanted traces of FF) 3. Reinstall Firefox from their website. Do not install any add-ons or plug-ins. Some of them cause crashes by conflicting with other apps on your computer) My personal favorite is Opera. I like the tabbed browsing and the "Quick dial" feature. Opera also saves my log-in information for various sites. Opera also has a good built-in e-mail client. On my computer Opera is as fast and more stable than other browsers. I have installed and uninstalled Chrome three times. It kept crashing. Seamonkey is a pretty good browser; also Flock is another good browser. It has a good tie-in with social networking sites (if you are into that). Every browser I have used will crash sometimes and an uninstall and reinstall usually fixes that. Hope this helps, Al

This is the number one reason for a computer to crash. The files in your registry contain instructions for every program and application in your computer. When they become corrupted with errors or go missing, the computer will have a hard time running the programs, and crash as a result. It is highly recommended that you do not attempt to fix the registry yourself. The first thing you should do is to download a registry cleaner software and do a free scan on your computer.I should like to commend Registry Easy http://cleanup-comuter-run-perfectly.com to you ! The software will automatically detect all the known errors and missing entries, and then repair and restore them so you can have your computer running like new again. You can scan your pc for free! Good luck!

Firefox has a little tendacy to crash. However, there several ways to fix it and still keep your Firefox browser.

First, check your add-ons. Go to Tools, then add-ons and in the "Extension" tab uninstall or disable any add-on that you don't use. This includes Java Quick Starter and Microsoft .NET Framework Assistance.

Second, while in add-ons, go to the "Plugins" tab and disable any plugins that cause your browser to slow down. In particular these tree.

-Adobe Acrobat, which bring up PDF files from websites onto your browser. Turning it off will prevent this and your PDF files will open externally.

-get Plus Plus for Adobe. This is not needed.

- Java Platform.

-MetaStream

-Microsoft DRM

-QuickTime Plugin, which allows you to view QT video on websites

-Shockwave for Director

-Window Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Link Library

and finally, Window Presentation Foundation.

All of the above is not needed.

Third, you can tweak Firefox to run faster on your computer. The link below is video on how to do it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hJAt_VasTc

Don't forget to restart Firefox in order for the changes to take affect.

Fourth, if you download files into your computer, go to Tool then Download and delete to files from the download list.

If you don't want to have any download file in the status bar in the future, go to Tools, then Option. Click on the "Privacy" icon and unchecked the box that says "Remember Download History."

Finally, always, always clean out your recent history, that way Firefox can work faster. Try doing every two weeks or every month, its up to you. If you don't how to clean out your browsing history, the video link below will show you how.

Download the latest version of Firefox.

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html

That should fix your problem.

If it doesn't, download CCleaner and clean your registry.

Or download another web browser like:

Safari: http://www.apple.com/safari/

Opera: http://www.opera.com/

Google Chrome: http://www.google.com/chrome

Note that your computer might be failing due to other errors. You might want to consider buying a PC-Tune Up Utility. I use System Mechanic: http://www.iolo.com/system-mechanic/standard/
